Changing Seasons - Elixir of Life

Often times as our body adapts to the changing seasons, our body will express health in a way we don't usually consider healthy - getting sick.  As we our nose runs, we sneeze, we cough, and have a fever - our body's intelligence is working hard to burn off the sickness and remove the bad stuff from our body through sneezing, coughing and a running nose.  Instead of suppressing our body's intelligent defense mechanism through over the counter medication - why not give the immune army delicious nutrients to help the body strengthen, heal and express life fully.  

 

Chiropractic adjustments boost immunity by helping your brain and body communicate clearly through the removal of nervous system interference.  As it is important to get routine spinal checks - it is also important to know when it is even more supportive to get care - like when we have a cold or flu.  When you are sick (as when you are healthy) is a perfect time to get adjusted.  Our go to routine when we are coming down with a cold or flu - slow down, get adjusted, rest, rest, rest, drinks lots of water and add this amazing immune boosting + flu busting drink.  

 

The "Elixer of Life" green juice is our go to drink whenever our body needs a little extra immune boosting. 

 

To put in a juicer: 

Ginger:  1 inch piece 

Lemon: 1/2 organic lemon (with peel)

Apple: 1/2  organic apple (our fav is fuji but choose the type you love the most!)

Celery: 2 organic celery sticks

Cucumber: 1/2 organic cucumber 

 

Health Benefits of:

 

Ginger: Great for colds, flu, anti-inflammatory (contains gingerols - active phytonutrients that help reduce inflammation in body), anti-nauseau, great for heart! (cardiovascular system loves ginger as it helps reduce the accumulation of platelets), reducing gas and cramps, great for detox.

 

Lemon: Great source for Vitamin C

 

Apple: Antioxidant powerhouse (catechin, procyanidins, chlorogenic acid, ploridizin), Great for brain health & decreased risk of stroke, cancer, diabetes and heart disease 

 

Celery: low calorie, high in fiber, offers an array of minerals (folate, potassium, manganese, copper, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium) and vitamins including vitamin K & C, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, niacin, and riboflavin. Anti-inflammatory, good for the heart, immune boosting, and cancer preventing: flavonoids like zeaxanthin, lutein, and betacarotene, Antioxidants 

 

Celery leaves - oils great for reducing cholesterol and blood pressure

 


Cucumber: anti-inflammatory (Fisetin), cancer fighting (Lignans), Vitamin C, Beta-carotene, B vitamins (good for brain, reduce risk of cancer, decrease inflammation, good for nerves, decrease stress, and improve digestion)
